Nigeria’s Young Pharmacists Group elects new president

Pharmacist Ekomobong Hanson is the new president of Young Pharmacists Group-Nigeria

Pharmacist Ekomobong Hanson has been elected and sworn in as the new president of the Young Pharmacists Group-Nigeria (YPG) at event that featured a keynote address that was delivered by the president of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Pharmacist Ahmed I Yakasai.

In his address, Yakasai urged the newly elected leaders to always maintain integrity in all their dealings; he enjoined them to have the interest of the health of Nigerians at heart and should detach themselves from anything that will not project the image of pharmacy in good light.

The YPG was formed in 2014 with the aim of getting young pharmacists involved in happenings in the profession. The group is made up of young pharmacists age 18-35, or those five years or less in the practice of the profession in Nigeria. The group’s formation was overseen by Pharm. Onimisi Benjamin who also served as the president.

The new leaders of the group were elected at the 90th PSN Annual  conference; it was the first structured election that was organised to elect new leaders for the group. Secret ballot voting system was deployed.
