Health ministry pulls out policy as health workers continue to strike

Just few hours after the leadership of Nigeria’s Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) directed its members to embark on an indefinite strike to drive home their demands for the implementation of previous agreements and better offerings for its members, the federal government of Nigeria through the health ministry decided to rollout the usual government efforts aimed at discouraging striking workers to continue with the exercise.

In a memo that is now widely circulated, the health minister through the Head, Department of Hospital Services, Dr. O.J. Amedu, the minister directed CMDs of FG-owned hospitals to open a register for all members of staff.

Check out the memo below in its entirety.

JOHESU has not responded to this correspondence at the time of filing this report.
