On Wednesday evening, HealthNews.NG posted a picture that had already gone viral on social media. In the picture which featured Nigeria’s Vice President Ayo Osinbajo, health minister Prof Isaac Adewole, Minister of Information Lai Mohammed, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; and few others. Adewole was visibly making a serious point and no one in the picture was smiling.

This morning, HealthNews.NG investigations revealed the picture was taken inside the Council Chambers of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja before the commencement of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting.

The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo; the Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole and the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, were engaged in a tête-a-tête before President Muhammadu Buhari arrived for the cabinet meeting.

According to various accounts, the minister of health was visibly upset had earlier discussed with some of his colleagues on the decision of the president to reinstate the suspended Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) Usman Yusuf, by the president.

Yusuf was in June 2017 suspended by the Minister of Health sequel to allegations of gross misconduct.

The minister raised which reportedly found him culpable of infractions that ranged from nepotism to theft of public funds. On the other hand, the National Assembly had directed the health minister to reinstate Yusuf although this had not been implemented until the presidential directive was issued.
