Today would have the 62nd birthday of Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh, the Nigerian doctor that was credited for preventing a widespread escalation of Ebola outbreak in Lagos, Nigeria and Google is ensuring that she is remembered with a Doodle.

A Google Doodle is a special, temporary alteration of the logo on Google’s homepages that commemorates holidays, events, achievements, and people.

On Twitter, Google confirmed the development claiming Adadevoh helped stop the spread of Ebola in the country during the 2014 outbreak.

Several Nigerian medical practitioners agreed with Google on the roles played by Adadevoh. UK-based Nigerian doctor described the late doctor’s actions as heroic.

“Patrick Sawyer would have left the hospital. Ebola would have flooded Lagos. Nigeria will hav been engulfed. She STOPPED all these. She gave her life for us. Millions in Nigeria are alive today because of you Ma. With tears, I celebrate Stella Adadevoh’s birthday. A true hero,” he shared on Twitter.

Another practitioner, Dr. Erhumu added: “Thank you Google for dedicating today’s Google doodle to Dr Stella Adadevoh who would have been 62 today. She helped limit the spread of Ebola in Nigeria and saved us from a disaster. Working at that time, I remember the fear we all had. Thank you Dr Stella.”

The events surrounding Adadevoh’s life and times were captured in a movie entitled 93 Days.

CNN reported that the portrayal of heroism, selflessness and sacrifice in the film created a buzz among Nigerians who often complain that their country is portrayed in a negative light.
“What is spread outside [is] that Nigerians are really selfish,” said Taiye Opatewa, who also watched the film. “She [Adadevoh] is just the epitome of a typical Nigerian woman who would want to do all she can for her younger ones… “
“The picture of Nigeria outside is really, really bad…but this film shows the light that comes out.”
